About Me

I have spent my last 4 years as a Family Therapist helping couples, individuals, and families understand and change the patterns that keep them from reaching their full potential for fulfillment and connection with others at the Alliant Couple and Family Clinic and at my office in Mission Valley.

I believe in the concept of the wounded healer, in the innate force inside all of us to strive for healing and healthy connection with ourselves and with others. Having gone through my own personal and relational struggles from an early age, I have enormous respect for clients with anxiety, depression, grief, and other difficulties for their courage to face them and seek help to change the unsatisfactory status quo.

I am an Emotionally Focused Therapist, continuously learning with the best trainers in the field. I strive to provide a safe environment that fosters individuals and partners taking risks to express their most vulnerable emotions, to truly hear each other and be fully heard and understood. Whether the main issue is infidelity, communication, or other type of disconnection, clients are supported to reach out to each other for genuine, heartfelt connection, to see in each others' eyes the love and joy too often couples lose along the way. Everyone longs to feel understood and loved, even in our imperfections and when we make mistakes. I want to help you find attachment security in your relationship so you too can feel the joy to love and be loved without the constant fear of losing the very connection which you care for the most.

I honor each person that walks in to session and meet them where they are. I look forward to meeting you and working with you to achieve your goals.

Individual, Couple, and Family Therapy

Couple Therapy - EFT

Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) is a model of therapy that has been validated by research to be especially effective for couples.  EFT is based on attachment theory. Partners with a solid emotional bond find safety and security with their partner. Partners securely attached can express their true feelings and be their most authentic self, knowing their relationship is strong enough to withstand temporary disconnections and misunderstandings that happen in every couple. They can repair and heal wounds together leveraging the strong sense of trust built in.

Individual Therapy

We are not isolated beings. Our behaviors and personality are molded throughout years of learning in communication with those around us. Our relationships, our environment shape us. I believe we develop adaptive strategies at an early age that help us navigate the world around us with the tools we have at each age. In time those learned strategies no longer serve us well as we become adults, and promote a rigid way to respond to those we love and everyday events; often we're not even aware of these rigid patterns that tend to repeat in time and cause suffering and even physical pain.

I want to help you discover the rigid patterns (thoughts, beliefs, behavior strategies) that keep you stuck.  You may be suffering from perhaps years emotional or even physical pain.  I believe every one of us has an innate drive and power to thrive if only we have the right conditions around us. I want to provide an environment that is safe, rich in curiosity and exploration, to help us challenge patterns that are no longer useful and update them with adaptive ways of being in the world. I want to connect with your true inner self. I want to help you find your internal voice, strengths, and power to improve your relationships with yourself and others. Connection is a powerful force for healing we can engage in the path to fulfill your goals.

Family Therapy - EFFT

I work with families to assess the emotional attachments and help improve the emotional bond between members. Often it is the difficulties of family members reaching out expressing their true emotions that undermine communications and lead to misunderstandings and disconnection.
I use mainly Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and integrate other modalities when appropriate to customize treatment for each family. I work with families to create a safe environment where we can distill the goals for therapy, and foster an environment where each member is encouraged to express their emotions and views, and feels heard and understood. We will work on improving the quality of the connections that so often is the underlying cause for the disconnections.
